Native American Pages
"The
results of the contact with the White people that came were disastrous
in that they destroyed an economy that was built up over hundreds of years
of learning to live off the land. So, when the White man came in and killed
all the Buffalo herds and pushed us into smaller areas. It was a destruction
of our total economy. We've never recovered from that since."

Runnels. Oglala Sioux.
This
page is here just to set out a few of my favourite links to Native American
web sites that I have found helpful in my search to better understand their
history and culture. I live in England and my interest in Native Americans goes back a few
years although it was rekindled after reading the excellent book "500 Nations"
by Alvin Josephy and watching the TV documentary "The Wild West" by Ric
Burns. It's difficult, on one page, to present a great deal of information
on a culture that has survived for thousands of years (despite the efforts to destroy it). You can find plenty of places to visit by using the Native American links button below or the Web Ring links further down this page...... BUT, perhaps you would take a minute to click on the Donate Free Food button below and read what hungersite.com have to say. It won't cost you anything.
